WELCOME TO THE

QSAs

An annual celebration of young LGBTQ+ people.

The Queer Student Awards (QSAs) are the U.K.’s first annual student celebration focused on talented young LGBTQ+ people who are proudly leading in their lives, and the communities around them.

Launched in 2021, by ED&I consultant Steve Keith, the awards also recognise the work that individual allies, schools, colleges, universities and employers are doing to create inclusive spaces that support young LGBTQ+ people - many of whom worry about whether sharing their sexuality and gender identity will act as a barrier to their future success in the career of their choice. The awards are judged by a panel of student recruitment industry experts, queer influencers and young LGBTQ+ people from schools, colleges and universities.

“There is now a considerable amount of research that shares frustrations from young queer folk about the tokenism that they see for one month each year, when the Pride rainbow flag - a symbol of queer pride and progress – is used to ‘pink-wash’ corporate logos as part of recruitment campaigns. Whilst this does continue to raise awareness and increase visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, young people expect and welcome more meaningful engagement and action from employers. I created the The Queer Student Awards to provide an opportunity for us to recognise the great work already being done to support LGBTQ+ youths, and to celebrate the stories that lie behind the rainbow.”
