WE’RE INVITING LGBTQ+ STUDENT SOCIETIES ACROSS THE UK
TO TELL US HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT THEIR FUTURE CAREERS AND WHAT THEY NEED FROM STUDENT EMPLOYERS

We will then share what we learn with student employers to help bridge the gap between what LGBTQ+ students need and what the world of work currently offers them

  • WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE


    There is lots of great research out there which includes references to how LGBTQ+ students in the UK feel about their futures careers and what they need from student employers, but very few surveys and/or pieces of research focus solely on the student experience.

    WE WANT TO CHANGE THAT.

  • OUR PLAN


    Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research with LGBTQ+ student societies at universities across the UK to understand exactly what they need from student employers that they aren’t currently getting - and most importantly, why this is important to them.

    WE WANT TO LEARN FROM YOUNG QUEER VOICES.

  • DESIRED OUTCOME


    We plan to use local, regional and national trends that we identify to educate student employers on the enablers and blockers for LGBTQ+ students in their journey from education into employment.

    WE WANT MORE STUDENT EMPLOYERS TO TAILOR THEIR APPROACH TO SUPPORTING LGBTQ+ STUDENTS.

  • GET INVOLVED


    We need LGBTQ+ student societies to share their insights with us, and we will need a team of volunteers (working LGBTQ+ professionals) to help us run focus groups and to analyse what we learn.

    THIS NEEDS TO BE A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT FOCUSED ON BUILDING BETTER FUTURES FOR LGBTQ+ STUDENTS.

VOLUNTEER YOUR SUPPORT

We’re looking for LGBTQ+ professionals who would like to volunteer to support our work with this initiative. If you have experience with running focus groups and/or data analysis we would love to hear from you - not essential as we will provide some training.
